Nathan Heddleston is an experienced professional with an extensive background in education and athletics.

Born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio, Nathan developed a passion for sports at a young age and competed in track and field events that instilled in him the values ​​of disci­pline and perse­verance. He pursued his academic interests at the University of Mount Union, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. After completing his under­graduate studies, Nathan continued his academic career at Nova South­eastern University, where he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning, gradu­ating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. His strong academic background and leadership skills led him to a successful career as a track and field coach at the University of Mount Union. Under his leadership, his teams reached multiple NCAA national champi­onships and he was recog­nized multiple times as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associ­ation (USTFCCCA) Coach of the Year.

What do you do at your job?

In my work, I oversee trans­portation logistics and parking management for a variety of customers. My main role is to improve opera­tional efficiency and implement innov­ative solutions to ensure the highest standards of service. I lead teams to ensure seamless coordi­nation between different depart­ments and stake­holders, which is critical to optimizing our opera­tions. Additionally, I focus on improving customer satis­faction by maintaining reliable and effective services. This requires a strategic approach to problem solving and a commitment to continuous improvement. Every day is different, which makes my work dynamic and challenging.

Who do you admire?

I really admire John Wooden, the legendary basketball coach. His leadership style and commitment to the devel­opment of his players on and off the field have always inspired me. Wooden’s emphasis on character, integrity and hard work is consistent with my own values. His pyramid of success and his ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their best while focusing on teamwork and personal growth are principles that I want to incor­porate into my own leadership style. Wooden’s legacy is a testament to the power of positive leadership and the impact a great mentor can have on their team.

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

Looking back, I think I would have taken more risks earlier in my career. When I transi­tioned from coaching to the corporate world, I was hesitant to step out of my comfort zone. While this caution allowed me to evolve at my own pace, I now realize that accepting challenges and taking calcu­lated risks can lead to tremendous growth and learning. I also wish I had sought out more mentors earlier in my journey. Learning from others who have walked similar paths can provide invaluable insight and guidance. Despite these consid­er­a­tions, I appre­ciate the journey I have taken and the lessons I have learned along the way.

What defines your way of doing business?

The way I do business is driven by a commitment to integrity, excel­lence and collab­o­ration. I believe in setting high standards for myself and my team and holding everyone accountable for meeting those standards. Commu­ni­cation is key to my approach; I value open and trans­parent dialogue to ensure everyone is aligned with our goals. What advice would you give to someone starting out?

My advice to someone just starting out would be to adopt a mindset of continuous learning. The landscape of every industry is constantly evolving, and staying curious and open to new ideas will keep you adaptable and relevant. Don’t be afraid to take risks and step out of your comfort zone; That’s where real growth happens. Building a strong network of mentors and colleagues is also crucial as they can support and guide you throughout your career.
